Saturday Tutoring Clubs
Our trained volunteers teach Saturday classes for reading, math, and chess, helping students in grades 3-6 improve their skills for school and competitions.
Reading Club
Our Reading Club guides students through reading passages, analytical writing, and creative thinking. Students improve their skills in interpreting and communicating about texts through activities such as debates, group discussions, and independent writing.
Reading Club classes are geared towards those seeking help with the NYS State Test in English Language Arts, providing practice and feedback for short responses and multiple choice questions.
Math Competition Club
Our Math Competition Club deepens students’ understandings of concepts on they otherwise learn in school on top of introducing new ones, preparing them for the level of thinking and math required for math competitions such as AMC and Math Kangaroo.
Math Competition Club classes are targeted at those who are both skilled and passionate about math and want to improve on their skills. We provide guided practice and explanations with questions modeled from real competition questions from AMC and Math Kangaroo.
Chess Club
Our Chess Club introduces the basics of chess, ranging from openings to calculation, to help students improve and prepare for competitions. No matter their skill level, students will be exposed to new concepts that will help take their game to the next level.
Chess Club classes welcome students of all skill levels. Through lectures, drills, and friendly matches, students get the chance to not only learn new ideas, but they also get the chance to put what they have learned to practical use in games.
