APPLESEED YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Appleseed is a youth-led initiative operating under the Parents Group of New York and is dedicated to fostering youth leadership and civic involvement. In close collaboration with PGNY, the Appleseed team develops and runs a range of programs and events that support immigrant families in underserved communities.

OUR PROGRAMS

Our Saturday Tutoring Clubs allow our volunteers to teach chess, English, or math to elementary school students. They engage with students and their parents to develop students’ interests and skills in these areas, gaining valuable experience along the way.

High schoolers on our Education Team work with the tutoring service Yanyue Class to foster a positive learning environment for elementary and middle schoolers, boosting their academic confidence as they prepare for standardized exams.

Our Policy Team allows students to take the lead on civic engagement. They research pressing educational and economic issues, interview local political and educational leaders, and organize community outreach in South Brooklyn, advocating for meaningful change.

Our Operations Team manages the different teams within Appleseed, helping members develop important organization, leadership, and teamwork abilities. They work closely with the Executive Team to plan and lead events, organize classes and seminars, and control Appleseed’s operations.
